Suzi from Spring 2018

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

The Trip to the park with my class was the most satisfying. After just coming to Japan this short trip made me feel closer to the other students in my class.

Which co-curriculum classes did you find most satisfying?

I found the culture class to be very satisfying and informative. through this class I was given a chance to see places in Japan that I probably would not have seen otherwise.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

The "Road to Kanji Master" class was very interesting. I intend to live in Japan for the next few years so learning how the modern writing system came to be the way it is should prove to be very useful. overall I think this course was thought out very well. The only thing I wish was different was that the school library stayed open for a few more hours.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

I think that the small kanji test we had every day was the most effective way to learn kanji. Also, going over kanji every day in class was very helpful and informative.

Any further thoughts or tips for those considering the program or new KCP students?

Definately participate in the culture class! having someone to guide you through places in Japan and explain the history and signifigance of each place will truly enrich your experience in Japan.

Testimonials

KCP is a wonderful program for those looking to, 1) see their Japanese abilities exponentially grow, and 2) to experience the culture hands-on. It’s also a program for those who don’t simply seek to party either. The program’s rigorous and demands attention to your school work, health, and managing time in between. Basically, you live, eat, and breathe a Japanese lifestyle. It’s great.
