KCP activities were very productive.

Caroline from Winter 2018

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

The Kamakura trip was a highlight of the course. It was great to spend quality time with my classmates and visit beautiful shrines/temples.

Which co-curriculum classes did you find most satisfying?

My fun Japanese conversation class was very helpful in navigating everyday conversations

Why did you select this program?

The intensity of the course was what I was looking for in a language program.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

I thought overall it was very productive, but the level of independent study is very rigorous. I was prepared for it but I could see others were struggling with the pace and learning what level of work was expected of them outside of class time. I think learning alongside my Chinese and Korean classmates was the most interesting aspect of the program. I made some great friends and our only language in common is Japanese!

What did you find most valuable in the Culture Course?

I really enjoyed the excursions and learning about what was mentioned in the lectures firsthand.

Testimonials

I’d say that the two weeks we got as Summer Short Term students before starting the actual Summer Term with the international students helped a lot. It prepared me for the intensity and structure of the program. I’d say the structure of the program and every day classes were very helpful in advancing my Japanese skills. Switching from some review and practice with my peers, to dictation, to kanji, etc, was engaging. I just think the intensity and structure of the program was ideal, at least for me.
