The teachers at KCP helped me a lot.

Marylea from Winter 2020

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

I loved the experience of streamlining my study of Japanese. I learn a little slower than most, so I liked that I could choose not to go to some events and instead stay home and catch up.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

Watching youtube in japanese really helped as a supplement to class, because I could adjust my ears to different styles and accents which was helpful to my every day life. The exercises in the textbook were also really clear and helped me drill the grammar.

Any comments or tips for prospective/new KCP students?

Study every day outside of class, even if it’s just for 30 minutes. If you don’t feel like doing things from the textbook, play a game in japanese, read a manga in japanese, watch tv etc and look up the things you don’t know, and study it. This will support your studies and help you be confident for tests and participating in class.

Testimonials

I loved meeting new people in my classes and being able to practice Japanese almost every day. I loved living in Japan as if I were Japanese and absorbing the culture.
