Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

I enjoyed the culture classes the most because gave me the chance to experience parts of Japan that I probably wouldn't explore on my own. The lectures that came along with them were also very interesting and informative.

Which co-curriculum classes did you find most satisfying?

English support and culture classes.

Why did you select this program?

I liked that the school building is in Tokyo, and that it had a lot of excursions. Even though the program was advertised as being very difficult, I also felt that it was going to be very effective. The price wasn't very bad, and the application process was the easy.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

I liked that I didn't have the same teacher every day. Even though I liked my teachers, it was good to rotate so that I could learn the material through different teaching styles. There wasn't anything I found unproductive about the program.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

Games were helpful because it made the class feel more relaxed, and I wouldn't feel so nervous when trying to answer questions.

What did you find most valuable in the Culture Course?

Being able to visit places in Japan that I didn't know about previously.

Any further thoughts or tips for those considering the program or new KCP students?

I barely knew any Japanese before coming to Japan. I had only took one semester of Japan three years ago, so I was really nervous. Luckily, the classes are taught in a way that make you feel very comfortable as long as you give it your all. When you don't understand the material, teachers are always willing to help you understand it. Because the classes are taught all in Japanese it really takes 100% of your focus to keep up, so it's really important to develop good study habits while you're here. Even with all that considered, I still had enough free time to do things that I wanted in Japan and relax.

Testimonials

I chose this program because of its well-favored reviews on various sites as well as the intensity provided by the classes. I looked for a challenge and KCP certainly provided that for me.
