Academic Credit

Earn credit for Japanese language immersion.

University of Idaho has approved for academic credit courses taught at KCP International Japanese Language School. You can earn one year or more of language credit (either semester or quarter) each KCP semester term. Courses appear on a University of Idaho transcript about 30 days after you have completed the term.

KCP courses have been approved for credit by this university but it is up to each student to determine transferability of credit by your home school before you attend the program.

In the first week of class, you choose from three grading options: Grade (four-point scale), Pass/Fail, or Audit. Students who choose the Audit option participate fully in the course but do not earn academic credit.

KCP Grade Report & SCHOOL OF RECORD TRANSCRIPT

KCP International reports your courses/grades to University of Idaho as they are the School of Record for KCP. When you request a transcript be sent to your home university, your home university will be sent a UI transcript showing the acceptance of the KCP credit as transfer credit and detailing the equivalent UI course, credits and grade for each KCP course you take.

See below for a list of KCP Levels, how they are reported to the University of Idaho and the University of Idaho equivalencies. It is up to your home university to decide how these credits will be labeled, evaluated, or count towards your major or minor. To order a KCP grade report, submit a Document Request.

Please note: Transfer of academic credit from a KCP grade report, or from a school of record (sponsor school) transcript, has been successful in most cases. However, every school has its own policy and makes the final decision on credit transfer. Students are encouraged to consult their home school’s study abroad or academic advisor about transferability of credit earned from their study at KCP.

Testimonials

Frankly, it seemed like the best. The other programs I looked at were either heavily geared towards Chinese and Korean students or prohibitively expensive. Plus, KCP has a long history and a LOT of alumni who openly praise the program online — and I hope to be among them!
